Caleb is 1 month old!

Most days it does not feel like a month has already passed! Caleb has grown so much. At 2 1/2 weeks he had gained 2 pounds and 2 inches from birth! So now at 1 month there's no telling how much he's gained. He's atleast 10 pounds. He loves bath time, mostly I think because it soothes his tummy. The pediatrician thinks he has acid reflux, and it's definitely obvious at times that his stomach is hurting. We hope he grows out of that one. He has also started smiling and loves to look at faces... and he still loves to sleep on mom more than anywhere else, especially at night! Oh, and he's now almost completely bald!

2 Weeks Old Already!

Seriously, I can't believe it's already been 2 weeks. Caleb is getting so big, especially those chubby cheeks! We've been so blessed with amazing family and friends that have helped us during this time. Thank you to everyone who brought meals, gifts, and came to hold Caleb and drive me around during these past 2 weeks. It has been such a help. But I am so glad to be able to drive again starting today. Here's some pics to show how Caleb has grown!

It's A Boy!!!

Caleb Daniel Rose is here! He was born at 11:15pm Thursday April 3rd. It was one crazy day. I went into true labor late morning that Thursday and was at the hospital by 5:30 that evening. I had planned and hoped to have this baby naturally, but I ended up having an emergency C-section. The cord was wrapped around his neck and his heart rate dropped and wouldn't come back up to a safe level. I'm just so thankful that he's here and healthy!

At birth Caleb weighed 7 lbs 11 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. He's perfect and beautiful, and we're all doing really well - just recovering at home and enjoying the time together.

40 Weeks Pregnant

Marc and I went to dinner last night and took some final pictures of me pregnant. I can't believe the day is almost here. My due date is in 2 days (the 5th), and considering the fact that I'm up at 4 am timing contractions, the day really might already be here! That shocking day I found out I was pregnant seems like such a long time ago. Now I can't wait to be a mom and to find out if it's a boy or a girl. Hopefully we'll be posting pictures of Baby Rose soon!

But the Lord directs his path.

This is the first blog entry for the Rose family. We figured it would be good to start with explaining the title, not to mention that the title explains how we got ourselves into the situation where we are having to set up a blog in the first place. With both Laura and myself making our plans to finish our seminary education (which just seems to keep going on and on and on) last July, I remember our conversation clearly. After months of debate, we finally came to the conclusion that it was best to wait until after I was done with seminary (May 2010) before we would have children. I mean after all, Laura's womb wasn't really going to rot out by the age of 30 like she was afraid of and all together it was going to be the most efficient way to get school finished for both of us. That was Wednesday July 25th. Friday July 27th is the day that I got sat down and scolded because I wasn't taking her concerns that she thought she was pregnant seriously enough (even though, as I told her, it was the 100th time I had heard it and we had only been married for a little over a year). I conceeded though and agreed to not joke around about it as much. Saturday the joke was on me. I woke up and found Laura sitting on the couch upstairs with a shirt on that said, "Good morning dad, we love you." So this is where the title comes in. The only coherent thought I had at the time was one verse, "Man makes his plans, but the Lord directs his path." So that is where we are, walking the path He has laid before us. Don't know where it is leading, but I am pretty excited about the ride. I have never been disappointed in the path the Lord has lead me on up to this point and I don't expect that to change now...
